Raga Yaman ~ drut gat
This is the drutgat (fast movement) of a July 07 concert in Tepoztlan, Morelos (Central Mexico) from oru concert/workshop tour this summer with tabla virtuoso AbhijitBanerjee from Kolkata. This performance incorporates several themes in Raga Yaman set to teental (16 beats) and improvisation back and forth between tabla & sitar.

International performing artist Paul Livingstone has studied and played sitar for the past 30 years as a disciple of the late legend and icon of Indian arts Pt. Ravi Shankar, Pt. Rajeev Taranath and Prof. Amiya Dasgupta. Paul is also a composer, educator & activist in Los Angeles. He performs on sitar and unique fretless guitars of his own design and has submerged himself in musical traditions of all 6 continents. Paul has recorded with a diversity of world, jazz & popular artists including playing on two Grammy Award winning records with Ozomatli & Ricky Kej.
